We have a Loonlet in Salmon Meadow Cove this year. Please make sure to keep boat traffic away from the loons.
You can help Loons!

Give Loons Space
-
Please stay at least 150 feet away from loons (no wake distance).
-
Give a loon more space if it calls or shows other signs of distress.
-
A good pair of binoculars is the best way to 'get close' to loons!
Fish Lead Free
-
It's the law! loons can ingest lead fishing tackle from a line or
attached to a fish. Use only non-lead, fishing tackle to protect
loons and other wildlife. -
Dispose of fishing line properly.
-
Visit fishleadfree.org for more information.
Did You Know?
-
Ingested lead fishing tackle is by far the leading known cause of adult loon mortality in New Hampshire.
-
Loons can abandon their nest if approached too closely by people.
-
It's a lot of work to raise 1 or 2 loon chicks - please give the loon parents space so they can take care of their chicks.
